Carrie Yale, our assistant managing editor for photography, asked me to post this note here on The Hall Monitor to give a public thank-you for all the help she got from the community in putting together a photo gallery for the Hendrick Hudson High School graduation:
Our goal at The Journal News/LoHud.com was to photograph every college, private high school and public high school graduation in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam.
As I said in a previous note, due to a scheduling error, we missed the Hendrick Hudson graduation on Friday, June 27, 2008.
As soon as we realized our mistake, we made every effort to find a solution. I would like to thank the administration at Hendrick Hudson High School for working with us to find photographs that were taken and for sharing them with us.
Principal James Mackin and Assistant Principal Daniel Callahan were fantastic in reaching out to teachers, parents and friends and asking them to share photos. They sent them to us in record time so that the Hendrick Hudson photo gallery could be up and running.
A special thank-you goes out to teacher Ken Manse for not only shooting every single graduate but also for sharing his images with us. As of today, there are 293 photographs in the Hendrick Hudson photo gallery on LoHud.com/gradphotos
While I wish we had not missed your event, I am in awe of the collaboration and understanding I have seen. The willingness to remedy the error with a solution that best served our graduates and their families and friends is what this is all about.
As the mom of a daughter who graduated this year, I fully understand and respect the importance of this milestone and the desire to have photographs from this event.
If you would like to submit more photos, please upload them at www.lohud.com/snap or e-mail them to ganphoto@cloud9.net.
Call me with any questions. (914-694-5092)
Again, thank you for understanding and we’ll see you next year!

Dozens of students graduated from Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES programs earlier this month.
The list is so long, in fact, that it was sent to me in a pdf by the Put-North folks, which I’ve attached for your downloading pleasure right here.
At left, GED graduate speaker Valentina Schell of Yorktown is pictured. The college-bound student told her fellow graduates, “Don’t let anything stop you on your way to achieve your goals … all of you can do it.”
Isabel Torena of Peekskill, the second GED graduate speaker, told her fellow grads, “BOCES has provided me a fantastic opportunity that has changed my life … always have your hope.”

We’ve posted between 55 and 60 high school graduation lists from the three counties that make up the LoHud coverage area (Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties), but we’d like to publish them all.

Some schools didn’t get us their lists of graduates before the ceremonies, but we published them as soon as we received them. We’d be glad to do the same for any other schools that get us their lists. (Ditto the two colleges that didn’t get us their lists of local grads.)
All published lists can be accessed via this post.
We can accept the lists only from school officials, and they must be alphabetized in a Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel or plain text document — and not all in upper case letters. Please email them to me at avernon@lohud.com
We congratulate all graduates and wish you the best of luck!

Hendrick Hudson High School graduated its class of 2008 Friday.
Unfortunately, due to a scheduling error, The Journal News/LoHud.com does not have staff photographs of the ceremony. Our photo department is working with the school and with parents to develop a photo gallery for the graduation.
“We apologize for missing your very important event,” said Carrie Yale, assistant managing editor/photography for The Journal News and LoHud.com. “We hope to create a gallery from your graduation photos. Help us build a visual history of your celebration by sending photos to LoHud.com/snap.”
Among those taken by a teacher at the school and provided to The Journal News is the following:
You can call Yale at 914-694-5092 or e-mail her at cyale@lohud.com
Here’s a link to the home page for the photo galleries for other local graduations.
UPDATE: Here’s a link to the photo gallery created in cooperation with the high school.
Following is a list of all of Hendrick Hudson’s graduates.
Congrats to all!

We need your help.
Due to a scheduling error, we did not photograph Hendrick Hudson High School’s graduation. We apologize for missing your very important event. We hope to create a gallery from your graduation photos. Help us build a visual history of your celebration by sending photos to LoHud.com/snap.
If you need help or have questions, please call 914-694-5092.
P.S.: The high school also has yet to send The Hall Monitor the list of all its graduates (as is the case with several schools). If you’re with any school that doesn’t have a grad list posted here or know someone there who can get us the list, please send it to me at
