Students from Long Island University’s Rockland Graduate Campus organized a book drive and donated more than 300 books to Valley Cottage Elementary School’s library.
Book collection bins were placed in the lobby on campus through March and April. Campus administrators plan on expanding the drive next year.

Rockland Community College announced receiving a $50,000 grant today to train 220 automotive technicians and mechanics around the Lower Hudson Valley.
The grant was given to the RCC Center for Personal & Professional Development from the State University of New York Community College Workforce Development Training Grants Program.

Robyn Ochs, a Massachusetts author, held a workshop on biphobia and what it means to be bisexual. Robyn herself married her partner, Peg, in 2004, though doesn’t identify as a lesbian, but rather as being bisexual and queer. West Point held a grand opening ceremony today for its new $62 million, 150,000-square-foot, six-story library. But, enough about the numbers, here are a couple photos I took of the library last week. It’s a real beaut, but unfortunately not open to the general public.
