Walk-a-thon to benefit special education

October
23

Valhalla’s newly formed Special Education PTA is holding its first walk-a-thon tomorrow at the Valhalla High School track.

The walk will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and is open to all. Registration is $10 per individual and $20 per family.

Put your best foot forward for children with special needs, the PTA urges.

Besides walking for a cause, there will be music, pumpkin decorating, face painting, crafts, games and other entertainment.

Valentina Belvedere, the PTA’s co-president, said the group hoped to get the children appropriate and up-to-date technology, and to assist some soon-to-be special education high school graduates who would benefit from sponsorship into college.

All of the special needs children will be able participate with their families, Belvedere said, making the walk-a-thon special.

If it rains, the walk will take place in the Valhalla High School cafeteria.
