New chairman at Mercy College

Mercy College announced that Gary W. Brown, the president and chief executive officer of CIBC World Markets Corp., the U.S. broker-dealer of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, was elected chairman of its board of trustees.
He succeeds Richard E. French, Jr., who had served as chairman since 2006.
Mr. Brown joined the Mercy College board in 2006 and served as chairman of the college’s Finance and Control Committee and as a member of the Executive Committee.
“We are pleased to have Gary Brown lead the board in strategic planning, responsible governance and bold thinking,” said Dr. Kimberly R. Cline, the president of Mercy College. “Mr. Brown has demonstrated the leadership qualities and excellence in business that will enable us to continue to advance our college. ”
