BOCES appoints assistant superintendent

Stephen J. Tibbetts has been named assistant superintendent for business and administrative services by Southern Westchester BOCES.

Tibbetts replaces Marcel Vales, who retired from the Southern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services in September.

HeĀ  develops proceduresĀ  to ensure that BOCES’ funds are secured, accounted for and used legally.

Tibbetts lives in Holmes.

He joined BOCES in 2002. He served as assistant business manager and treasurer for three years before being named director of business. Earlier he worked as a senior analyst at Viacom, and as supervising senior accountant at KPMG in Stamford.

Tibbetts earned a BS in accounting from Providence College and a master’s of science in educational administration from SUNY New Paltz. He has a certificate of advanced study, school business leader, from SUNY New Paltz.

He and his wife, Theresa, have two young children.
