77 Mahopac Students Receive AP Scholar Recognition

News from Mahopac:

Seventy-seven Mahopac High School students earned the designation of AP scholar from the College Board this year in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the Advanced Placement exams.

Twenty-four of the students graduated, and 53 are currently high school seniors.

Four students received the coveted AP National Scholar Award – Andrew Bunyea, last year’s valedictorian; James Hartwell, last year’s salutatorian; David Kellogg, also a 2009 graduate, and current senior Devin Wright.

Twenty-four students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award. They are Alexander Ankier, Christian Bezama, Veronica Burnham, Andrew Bunyea, Nicole Castro, Kendra Dawsey, Prisco Demercurio, Ankita Deosthali, John Dinapoli, Stephen Diannetta, Cara Gilroy, James Hartwell, David Kellogg, Karn Khunger, Holly Kornfeld, Andrew Korovich, Michael Levy, Alexa Madden, Mrig Mehra, Lucas Petersen, Jillian Sheridan, Gina Trovato, Devin Wright, and Michael Zaneri.

The AP Scholar with Honor Award was given to 14 students: Ryan Anderson, Anna Frances Del Rosario, Nicholas Depinho, Tim Faulkner, Gabriel Gambino, Giulia Giammo, Damaris Gina, Caitlin Humphries, Jestine Kavana, Katrina Keegan, Jayanth Krishnan, Kristen Nicolais, Niklas Sjoberg, and Timothy Taps.

Thirty-nine students qualified for the AP Scholar Award: Abigail Adgate, Brendon Anderson, Ilan Astrachan, Adam Basuljevic, Madeline Belloff, Clarke Bennett, Dylan Bennett, Tess Bettran, Clara Boesch, Breama Brehm, Paul Carey, Jillian Celestino, Kristen Curran, Melissa Defiore, Emily Delduco, Elizabeth Dorovitsine, David Doyle, Matthew Fanous, Luke Feehan, Francis Fonseca, Michael Gazzola, Michael Gonfiantini, Kevin Icken, Lauren Icken, Kelly McDermott, Alexander Miller, Sean Murphy, Kayla O’Brien, Daniel Ornstein, Emily Pfaffenbach, Chit Saraswat, Rebecca Shwab, Amy Sidoti, Megan Sieber, Helena Smith, Courtney Stein, William Stein, Crystal Terhune, and Philip Zeiss.

“Mahopac can be very proud of these students,” said Principal Aaron Trummer who administers the Advanced Placement program with Melinda Franseze. “They illustrate that they have a desire, sometimes even a passion for learning. This is where students become scholars.”
