Has your family decided not to enroll the children in private or parochial schools this year? I am looking to speak with families who are heading back to the public school system. Please call me at 914-694-3528 or e-mail me at dcostell@gmail.com if you can offer some insight. Thanks so much! (Only Westchester, Rockland or Putnam residents, please.)

My husband’s co-worker it ditching the “Catholic” school for her two sons this year. Maybe now she won’t have to work part time outside the home in order to be able to afford that expense of around 9K per year plus the expensive uniforms.
I have kids in both.
Opted out of high school tuition when the second one reached high school.
Still worth the cost for k-8th grade to me.
The parochial/private school tuition is expensive.
The uniforms and required school shoes are much less expensive than buying regular clothes for the kids for school- and I don’t buy designer brands.
After a year or so of trying to decide, we have chosen the public school system (Upper Westchester) for our 2 children. At first, we thought Cath schools might teach and emphasize more discipline/values, but in reality, it really does come down to the home. The cost was not a factor, we were simply down to what would be better for our kids. If your child needs any special services or intervention, you can forget the Cath schools. As a Cath educated Mom, I also want a more broad-minded influence on my childrens’ education. The sex abuse scandals of the Church simply sicken me and the institution as a whole is not nearly as respected and revered as it was in older generations. I am happy enough with our school system and am glad that out tax dollars will finally be put to good use.
