Students at Mount Vernon High School created a mural inspired by the book “A Lesson Before Dying” by Ernest J. Gaines. Four English classes worked with ArtsWestchester artist Tova Snyder to create a mural around the themes in the book. The fictional story is about a young man in Louisiana in the 1940’s who is wrongfully accused of murder and sentenced to death. The book centers on his relationship with a teacher who visits him on death row.
