Keeping an eye on education

Irvington students go to state spelling bee

On March 7, Main Street School students participated in the Westchester Regional Spelling Bee, held at Felix Festa Middle School in West Nyack N.Y.

Fourth-grader Zoe Mermelstein and fifth grader Simon Knowler came in second place in the match. On April 4 they will compete in the 2009 New York Spelling Bee at Port Bryon High School in Port Bryon, N.Y.

Both participants also came in first place at the PTSA sponsored Man Street School fourth and fifth grade spelling bees.


Other regional participants included: Fourth graders- Lisa Kusiak and Stephen Scott, and Fifth graders- Alaina Cohen and Swati Narayan
