Diversity Day at BOCES

November
27

On the day before Thanksgiving, students in teacher Josephine Scala’s Business & Computer Technology class at BOCES’ Tech Center got a “taste” of just how diverse their backgrounds are. To celebrate “Diversity Day,” they brought in dishes that represent their heritage…not only to whet everyone’s appetite for the most American of all holidays – Thanksgiving – but to remind themselves of just how richly diverse America is.

Here, from left, are seniors Karina Velasquez (Bedford), Ross Adsky (Somers), Kennya Paredes (Peekskill), and Monaisa Alston (Ossining), with such dishes as tembleque (a coconut pudding from Puerto Rico); flan, which originated in Spain; and Angelina cookies from Italy.
