Mount Vernon says thanks with basketball clinic

October
31

The Mount Vernon Knights are holding a free basketball clinic for Bronxville boys, grades 4 through 8, on Sunday as a way to say thanks for the community’s support.

Bronxville residents made generous donations to the Mount Vernon interscholastic sports program after all funding for sports was cut due to budget constraints. The fall and winter sports program were saved due to donations from the public, and fundraising continues for spring sports.

On Sunday, coach Bob Cimmino and the Mount Vernon Knights will teach basketball skills to 70 Bronxville kids who signed up for the clinic. It will be held at the Bronxville School, 177 Pondfield Road, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

The Knights are known as one of the region’s best basketball teams and have been the starting ground for a number of professional players.

For more on the events or to contribute online, visit teammountvernon.ning.com or send a check to the Mount Vernon Educational Foundation Inc., c/o Ronnie Cox, P.O. Box 476, Fleetwood Station, Mount Vernon, NY 10552. Write “sports” in the memo section of the check.
