Essay deadline approaching

October
10

The Weather Channel is holding its second annual Forecast Earth Summit essay contest, and deadline for submissions is Oct. 19.

The summit is geared to high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors. In 200 words or less, applicants should explain what they are doing to make a difference in their environment and to make their community more green.

This is a national competition. Twenty winners will be flown to Washington, D.C., from Dec. 5 to 7 for a Forecast Earth Summit hosted by the Weather Channel. Celebrity guests last year included climate experts, researchers and television stars.

Submissions can be made on line at www.forecastearthsummit.org. Entry submissions must contain contact information, photo and essay.
