Link’s senior fling

October
8

On October 22nd, students at Link Elementary School in Clarkstown will participate in the 8th annual “Senior Citizen Celebration.” Senior citizens from the Clarkstown Senior Center have been invited to enjoy a brunch in their honor served by the students.

Principal Francine Cuccia said the program’s goal was to develop an awareness of, and respect for, senior citizens as valuable members of the community.

“The theme provides another opportunity for students to take pride in their heritage while learning about and developing respect for others,” she said.

To celebrate the theme of our “Mosaic of Cultures,” students will read personal stories and poems, singing in both English and Spanish, and perform songs and dances in a variety of ethnic costumes. The room will be colorfully decorated with placemats, flowers and artwork created by the students. Link parents and the Family Resource Center will volunteer the time and help cook the brunch.

About 55 senior citizens attended the school’s Spring Fling last May. The same number are expected to participate on October 22nd.
