Walter Panas High School student Erica Cullen extended her scientific knowledge this summer through a training program at Mount Sinai for Collegiate Scholars. Erica worked in an advanced science lab, studying the Introductory to Molecular Biology, and focusing primarily on the basic principles of DNZ synthesis, and technologies behind forensic investigations.Â She presented in oral testing on the principles of how DNA are synthesized, and manipulated through polymerase chain reaction, and then went on to perform several small experiments and provide summary reports on these. Erica is a junior this year, and is continuing her science studies in Chemistry Honors.
