Rye schools look to fill curriculum council

The Rye City school district is seeking new volunteer members for the Curriculum Council. The committee meets once a month from 6 to 8 p.m. between September and June, and is responsible for reading materials related to various curriculum proposals and participating in discussions about their value to the district.
This year’s agenda includes
o   A review of the Kindergarten through 12th grade foreign language
program inclusive of consideration of the addition of Mandarin Chinese and
information on this year’s addition of Spanish instruction at second grade;
o   A proposal to implement an International Baccalaureate program;
o   The current Advanced Placement program at Rye High School;
o   Grades 6-8 exit criteria for the mathematics program;
o   A Kindergarten through 12th grade English Language Arts review;
o   And any other topics that may come before the Committee.
