Rye schools look to fill curriculum council

The Rye City school district is seeking new volunteer members for the Curriculum Council. The committee meets once a month from 6 to 8 p.m. between September and June, and is responsible for reading materials related to various curriculum proposals and participating in discussions about their value to the district.

This year’s agenda includes
o    A review of the Kindergarten through 12th grade foreign language
program inclusive of consideration of the addition of Mandarin Chinese and
information on this year’s addition of Spanish instruction at second grade;
o    A proposal to implement an International Baccalaureate program;
o    The current Advanced Placement program at Rye High School;
o    Grades 6-8 exit criteria for the mathematics program;
o    A Kindergarten through 12th grade English Language Arts review;
o    And  any other topics that may come before the Committee.
Any residents interested in serving on the Curriculum Council should send a letter of interest and relevant resume to Josephine Vicinanza at vicinanj@ryeschools.lhric.org.

    I have found that my kids get a kick out of learning while playing http://www.k5stars.com this allows them to advance in math, reading, and more with the fun video game concept involved. You can also track their progress and assign the subject they might need some help in!
