Yonkers school salaries

August
19

A Journal News analysis of last year’s salary spending by the Yonkers school district revealed that its overtime bill for 2007 totaled $9.7 million, compared with a regular payroll of $242.2 million. Yonkers school spending is important because municipal and school officials have warned that next year the city will face a significant financial crisis unless the state sends the city more financial aid. The combined school and municipal overtime bill is almost $45 million.

Bernard Pierorazio was the district’s highest-paid employee at $261,954 in total compensation. In all, there were 753 school employees, or 15 percent of the staff, who were paid more than $100,000 last year.
