Ossining athletes top Empire State Games

Two athletes from Ossining High School earned gold medals at the 2008 Empire State Games, held in Binghampton July 23 to 27.

Sprinter Jesse Drinks won the scholastic gold medal in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.94 seconds. Alexandra Venuto won a gold medal as a member of the Hudson Valley scholastic girl’s basketball team. Venuto scored seven points in the championship game. OHS Coach Dan Ricci led the girl’s basketball team to the gold as head coach.

OHS basketball player Jeff Ward was a member of the scholastic boy’s basketball team, which took home a bronze medal. OHS wrestlers Clay Neivert, James Brundage, Jeff Almodovar, and Juan DeLaCruz also had good showings at the Games.
