School report card coming end of July…maybe

July
18

We know you’ve just been waiting and waiting with great anticipation the release of the school report card. With performance data for thousands of schools statewide, the annual report is a useful barometer with which to measure progress in schools.

But it’s late this year. It is normally released in the spring, but that was pushed back until June…and that was pushed back until……

The report includes a lot more data now that students in grades three through eight are tested and, along with racial, gender and other breakdowns, it is much more complex than past reports. But can that explain a months-long delay?

Don’t know. But word has come out that the public should expect its release at the end of the month, with results for Regents exams, English and math scores by race, gender, etc. and other tidbits. So data geeks (like me) get ready to dig in.

Maybe.
