From the Putnam/Northern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services:

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS – Members of RYLO (Regional Youth Leadership Organization) recently chose Kevin M. McPartland, of Brewster High School, and Melanie Rubin of Horace Greeley High School, to receive the Regional Youth Leadership Organization’s Sprit of Service Scholarship of $200.

RYLO consists of students from the 19 high schools in the area who come together to build bridges between schools, proactively deal with issues that concern students, and plan community service projects. The Spirit of Service Award is unique in that it has been created by students to recognize the good work of other students…and all funds are raised by students.

RYLO is based at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES. Guidance Coordinator Dr. Jeanne Gold, who advises the group along with Principal Arthur Buchman, said that this year’s scholarship recipients “have exhibited truly outstanding service to the community and, in so doing, have improved the lives of others.”
