The Westchester-Putnam School Boards Association has appointed Lisa P. Davis as its new Executive Director. Ms. Davis, a management consultant at the Child Care Association of Westchester on its Quality Forward initiative, will assume the position on July 1st.
A former nine-year member of the Chappaqua Board of Education, she has served also as a past board member and president of the WPSBA, and is currently a member of the Barnard College Board of Trustees and President of the Barnard Collage Alumnae Association. Her volunteer involvement in Westchester has included board membership on the Westchester Children’s Association, Westchester Coalition of Family Violence Agencies, and the New Castle CARES Community Organization. Ms. Davis holds an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and undergraduate degree from Barnard College.
The Westchester-Putnam School Boards Association, founded in 1962, serves public school board members in the two counties by supporting their role as effective education leaders in their communities and the region. It provides information and training for local board members on current issues in education, policy, and school governance, spearheads advocacy initiatives at the regional, state and federal levels, and offers multiple networking opportunities for board members. In addition, WPSBA provides support and training for District Clerks in member districts, and collaborates frequently with other local, state, and national education and child-focused organizations.
For the 2008-2009 school year, the WPSBA membership has elected Lois Winkler, a member of the Pleasantville School Board, as its President for a second one-year term. Rita Golden, Mt. Pleasant Cottage School Board Vice-President, and Rick Kaplin, Byram Hills School Board member, will serve as the Association’s Vice-Presidents, along with Treasurer Anita Feldman, the Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES President.
Ms. Davis replaces Janet Walker, who has retired from the Association after serving as the WPSBA Executive Director since 1992.
