OK, not really. I mean, we know Jackson Pollock is dead.
But Putnam-Northern Westchester BOCES’ Walden Learning Center School channeled the spirit of the departed artist and created this painting:
It was unveiled last week in the school’s entrance hall.
Here’s more on the project, from a press release from PNBOCES:
The students from Walden Learning Center were involved in a career exploration program at the BOCES Tech Center. This program exposed them to a variety of different career areas during the course of the school year. One of the programs they experienced was Advertising Art and Design.
“Each year kids from the Walden School come to The Tech Center for a two-week experience,” says The Tech Center’s Advertising Art and Design teacher, Sandi Garofalo. “The first week, we built a lamp together, but the second week, it became apparent that the kids really loved to paint, so we said, ‘let’s paint’.”
…
“I provided a giant canvas, and the first student to approach it kind of flung the paint at it,” Ms. Garofalo said. “That gave us the idea for Jackson Pollock-style painting, so I put one up on the SMART Board and we all looked at it for inspiration.”
Titled Our Inner Pollock, the piece was created by students in both the Renaissance and Bridges programs at Walden.
