May
28

The Italian-American Scholarship Association of Rockland will celebrate its 30th anniversary of giving scholarships and awards to students graduating from high schools in the county and entering colleges or universities.

This year’s awards presentation will be 8 p.m. June 5 (next Thursday) at The Nyack Seaport on Spear Street in Nyack.

Scholarships this year are one $4,000 award and eight $1,000 awards. With those nine scholarships, the association will have given out nearly $450,000 over its 30 years.

Guest speaker will be CUNY Professor Joseph V. Scelsa. He’s director of the Italian-American Institute of the City University of New York and president of the Italian American Museum in New York City.
