We will be posting a few more Young Einstein videos next week. The videos showcase the research conducted by students in science research classes throughout the region, focusing on those chosen this year as semi-finalists and finalists in the Intel Science Talent Search. Read our story here.
Also on the kid genius front, Rye High School will be holding the annual symposium for its science research class at 7 p.m. on May 28. Read on for the text of a letter to sent to Rye residents.
Dear Rye Community Members,
The Science Research Class at Rye High School would appreciate your presence at their annual symposium on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 7:00 PM in the High School Library. This unique class offers students the opportunity to study a topic of their choice and then conduct an experiment relating to the material in which he/she is interested. Once a project has been completed the student then has the opportunity of applying to regional and statewide symposia.
The evening will begin at 7:00 PM with a poster session. During this time, the students will be standing by their posters to answer any questions that you may have. Poster topics include injury patterns in snowboarding, academic cheating, harbor seal behavior, teenage suicide, choosing a healthy lifestyle in middle age, autism tr eatment, and air pollution. At 7:30 PM our speaker session will begin. Our three presenters will speak on the topics of bias in offender profiling, academic stress, and Alzheimers Disease.
Refreshments will be served during the poster session.
The Science Research Class has worked hard on their projects and would like to invite all those interested to join us at our symposium.
