RCC nursing grads ceremony

May
15

In addition to Rockland Community College’s main graduation ceremony June 1, there will be a pinning ceremony for 45 nursing grads next week. The event will be at 6 p.m. May 20 in the Cultural Arts Theater on campus. Here’s what one soon-to-be grad had to say:

Rosemarie Ameo of Beacon, a cancer survivor and a diabetic: “The primary reason I went into nursing is because when I was 13, I needed surgery to my abdomen and was hospitalized for about two months. I’ll never forget the way the nurses cared for me. When I was getting the staples removed from my incision I was petrified, but the nurse’s gentle touch made me feel like I was the only person she was caring for. The compassion of my nurses made me realize this was the field I was made for — it was my calling. It’s hard to put in words, but it’s a strong feeling I have — nursing is my heart.”
