The Challenger Center for Space Science Education is holding a competition to design a mission patch for private space explorer Richard Garriott.
Garriott plans to be the next civilian to fly to the International Space Station and is seeking a student artist to design his uniform patch. He expects to visit the station in October and wants to have school children design his patch.
The design should symbolize the adventure and discovery of space flight. The winning piece will appear on a patch and t-shirt, and be featured on the Challenger Center Web site.
Student artists have until May 15 to submit a design via e-mail. Information on the contest is available on the Challenger site at www.challenger.org
