Yonkers students to celebrate Writers Day

Students at Mark Twain Middle School in Yonkers will get a chance to hear from authors, journalists and critics at the school’s first ever Writers Day tomorrow. The event is part of the school’s celebration of National Library Week, and will include panel discussions, individual classroom presentations by the writers, and a “Meet and Greet” and book signing in the library. Featured writers include:
• Novelist and nonfiction writer Marina Bathos
• Novelist and screenwriter Avery Corman, whose credits include Kramer vs. Kramer
• Terry Edmonds, former Director of Speechwriting for President Bill Clinton.
• Short story writer Carolyn Ferrell
• Poet Sandy Hauss
• Animal advocate and author Linda Koebner
• Rose Perlmutter, a former Yonkers teacher turned New York University literacy coach.
• The Journal News’ own columnist, Phil Reisman
• New York Times art critic Karen Rosenberg
• Todd Strasser, author of more than 130 books for teens and middle graders
• Anthony Tommasini, author and chief music critic for The New York Times.
