Concordia to offer nursing major

April
15

The state Education Department has approved a plan by Concordia College to offer an Accelerated Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, the college announced today.

The program is a 15-month, 61 credit post-baccalaureate course of study for college graduates with a degree in a major other than nursing.  Graduates will be prepared to take the licensing test for Registered Professional Nurses (RPNs).

The college says the development of a nursing major “will meet community needs while strengthening the institution.” School officials note that regional hospital nursing shortages of 6.62% in the Hudson Valley are slightly above the statewide vacancy rate of 6.38%.

The program will start small, accepting 20 students in the first class, but grow annually.

For more information, contact Susan Apold, RN, ANP-BC, PhD  at 914-337-9300, x2256 or susan.apold@concordia-ny.edu.
