Mount Pleasant schools had received some contaminated meat products, but officials assure parents everything’s under control.

Dear newsLINK friends:
Many of you may have read or heard about the recall on ground beef that had been acquired through the Federal School Lunch program from Westland/Hallmark Meat Company in California.
Our Food Service Director Brian Engelhardt has reported to me that the district had received some contaminated meat products. The contaminated meat products and canned bean products have been stored in our high school cafeteria’s locked storage area. These products will be destroyed and will not be used. No food products of this nature will be served until new supplies arrive.
I wanted you to know that we are in a safe situation regarding school lunches and that the appropriate steps have been taken to ensure the health and safety of our K-12 students. There has been no incident of using these contaminated products. I just wanted you to know what I know; and I am confident that we are in good shape!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me directly on my cell phone, “24-7 490-2332. Also, the telephone number of our Food Service Director, Brian Engelhardt, is 769-0223. If you need any further assurance, he will be more than happy to accommodate you.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Alfred Lodovico, Ed. D.
Superintendent of Schools
