The Carmel Board of Education expects to appoint Dr. James M. Ryan as the new schools superintendent tonight. He will take office on July 1, 2008.
Dear Community:
On behalf of the Board of Education, I am pleased to announce that we expect to appoint Dr. James M. Ryan as the new Superintendent of Schools at our meeting this evening. He will take office on July 1, 2008.
Dr. Ryan brings years of experience in education, strong leadership skills and an understanding of the importance of fiscal accountability. He is currently District Superintendent and CEO of Rockland BOCES in Nyack, NY and has also served as Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services. Prior to joining BOCES in 1993, Dr. Ryan was also the Principal of Ossining High School and Assistant Principal in Monroe-Woodbury High School. He began his career as a teacher in the Lakeland School District.
We invite you to meet Dr. Ryan at short reception at the Board of Education meeting this evening at 7:30 p.m. at Matthew Paterson Elementary School, or on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from 7:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Carmel High School Library, 30 Fair St., Carmel, NY.
We believe that Dr. Ryan is an outstanding educational leader and an excellent match for our District. He has substantial educational and administrative expertise as well as a demonstrated commitment to the highest professional standards. Over the past few years, Carmel Schools have made significant strides in the education of our students. We believe Dr. Ryan will continue the positive momentum and lead our District to new levels of achievement.
