Free current events supplement for classrooms

November
7

Our Newspapers in Education department has produced a fantastic free special section.

The United Nations Millennium Development Goals: Targeting Hunger is available for previewing at LoHud.com/NIE by clicking 2007-2008 supplements.

In addition to the international context, it features local programs – including White Plains, Hastings, Yonkers and North Rockland – and has suggestions for students, teachers, classes and families.

My colleague Pat Graff even scored an introductory letter from United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.

(btw, she is a former teacher, so she knows what’s useful and what’s not.)

We will send free copies – along with the newspaper – for classroom use. Teachers simply have to email Pat at plgraff@lohud.com . Give a number in multiples of 25 and choose delivery for Nov. 19, 20, or 21.

It’s particularly appropriate now, as the holidays approach, and we all talk to our kids about giving and being thankful.
