The game of college admissions has changed now that colleges and universities are embracing the use of social media, say Nora Ganim Barnes and Eric Mattson, authors of the research paper “The Game Has Changed: College Admissions Outpace Corporations in Embracing Social Media.”
Topics discussed in this interview include how admissions officers use social media to reach out to students and learn more about some of the applicants. Plus, the researchers discuss how students can capitalize on the trend and use social media as an opportunity to brand themselves. (Please note the interview has been edited for length. A newspaper article exploring the topic more fully will be coming shortly.)
