The East Ramapo school district held its first annual district spelling bee on Thursday night.
Eighteen students, all of whom won earlier contests at their respective elementary schools, competed at the Town of Ramapo Cultural Arts Center.
All participants received Scrabble games, and winners Philip Ozuah (1st place) from Eldorado Elementary, Grace Ducasse (2nd place) from Lime Kiln Elementary and Bryce Manning (3rd place) from Grandview Elementary  the trio is pictured below  each received $50 savings bonds from the Chestnut Ridge branch of Chase Bank.

43 Years of Annual Spelling Bees for the City of Yonkers. On Monday, May 7, 2007 at 6:45 p.m. the Exchange Club of Yonkers and the Yonkers Public Schools will host the citywide spelling bee for 5th graders at Saunders Trades adn Technical High School. Thirty-nine public schools, twelve parochial schools and one charter school will participate in this year’s event.
