Teachers turn a critical eye

There are many provocative blog entries by educators at this week’s “Carnival of Education.”:http://themediansib.com/2006/09/20/carnival-of-education-85th-edition/
One of them is an “scathing rebuttal”:http://ukiahcoachbrown.blogspot.com/2006/09/and-they-say-that-teachers-are-out-of.html of recent parental arguments for cell phones in NYC schools. Whether you agree with “Coach Brown”:http://ukiahcoachbrown.blogspot.com/ or not, it’s certainly a reality check for those of us adults who aren’t spending all day in high school.
The growing tendency of parents to pull their kids out of school for appointments, vacations, whatever, also comes in for some “criticism”:http://teachersparadise.blogspot.com/2006/09/what-is-with-all-early-dismissals.html on “Get Lost, Mr. Chips.”:http://teachersparadise.blogspot.com/
That’s a blog by a substitute teacher. It’s one of my favorite blog names, I must admit, though I deplore the sentiment.
