Folks at Pace Law School are still shook up over the death three weeks ago of Michael Glover, who had been president of the Gaelic Law Society there.
Glover, 28, was on his first tour of duty in Iraq when “he was killed”:http://iraq.pigstye.net/article.php/GloverMichael Aug. 16 in an ambush.
So the GLS will kick off a project to establish a scholarship in Glover’s memory with an evening at Patrick’s Pub in White Plains.
Patrick’s, a local haunt of choice for Pace grad students, was where Glover, who had been president of the Gaelic Law Society at Pace, and his friends would meet up after a hard week of classwork, according to current GLS President Alak Shah.
One of Glover’s ambitions was to have the GLS stand for something substantial, and sponsoring a scholarship was one of the ideas, Shah said.
To create a fund that will last, the Gaelic Law Society needs to raise $25,000.
The event at “Patrick’s Pub”:http://www.google.com/maps?hl=en&lr=&client=safari&rls=en&q=patrick%27s+pub&near=White+Plains,+NY&radius=0.0&latlng=41033889,-73763333,6279014138701809455&sa=X&oi=local&ct=authority is just the start. At least six student organizations will take part in a softball tournament next month, with all proceeds going to the Michael Glover Scholarship fund.
